The campus logos must remain as originally drawn and proportioned and cannot be modified or altered in any way. The text is a graphic element, not a typeface. Do not use the campus signature, logo or wordmark in a sentence.
The Missouri S&T signature or logo should be used on all Missouri S&T marketing materials. This includes all publications like business cards, letterhead, brochures, newsletters, admissions publications, recruitment materials, summer program publications, videos, websites and other materials.
For apparel, mailings and other materials, departments, student groups or other campus groups may wish to incorporate their organization’s name with the logo. To help ensure a consistent look among campus organizations, the following guidelines should be used. First, download the logo that you wish to use. Place the department or organization name directly beneath the word mark. Use Univers font for your department or organization name to distinguish it from the official logo. (If you don’t have Univers font on your computer, you can substitute the Arial font.) If the department or organization name can fit on one line, use 28-point font. If the department or organization name requires two lines, use 24-point font. Use 1-point horizontal lines to set apart the department or organization name from the logo. The lines should extend 1/8 inch beyond the first and last letters of the organization’s name. For assistance with using of the Missouri S&T logo with a department or organization name, contact printing services at mstprint@mst.edu .

Joe Miner mascot
Rugged and individualistic, Joe Miner personifies the spirit of the old west and the determination to succeed. His character is closely tied with the school's founding in 1870 as the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy.
Joe Miner's official pose illustrates a walking stance, with one leg stepping forward. With gun holstered on his hip, Joe swings a pickax while balancing a slide rule across one shoulder. This image was originally hand drawn.
